Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program
The Baptist Health screening program, called the Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program, is a self-pay program. These screenings are not covered by insurance and do not require a doctor's order or an indication. The program offers non-invasive ultrasound screenings to check the carotid arteries for blockage in the neck; abdominal aorta for aneurysm; and the peripheral arteries in the arms and legs for blockage.
In addition, screenings to identify diabetes, lipid abnormalities, Atrial fibrillation (irregular heart rhythm) and biometric screening are offered. Screenings are performed by an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (nurse practitioner) with certification in vascular sonography. A small amount of blood is obtained from a finger prick for glucose and lipid screening. All screening results are available the same day. Registration is required. Please call 502.222.3939 for an appointment at La Grange and 502.897.8888 for an appointment at Louisville.
