Cardiac Electrophysiology

You may need to have testing in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab to give your physician a better look at how your heart is working, including its rhythm and the blood flow throughout your body.

Electrophysiology studies use sophisticated technology to produce an electrical map of your heart that shows any abnormal heart rhythms and rapid heartbeats and help the electrophysiologist diagnose many heart conditions.

If testing shows that you have a heart condition, your electrophysiologist may be able to treat it with radiofrequency energy while you are in the lab. If testing shows that you need an internal defibrillator or pacemaker, you can have that implanted while you are in the Electrophysiology Lab.
