Cardiac ultrasound is an imaging test that produces pictures of your heart in motion. Your physician may recommend this test to check your heart muscle and valves for abnormalities.

What You Need to Know

  • Carotid ultrasound takes about 30 minutes.
  • The test is painless.
  • Wear clothing that can be easily removed from the waist up. The ultrasound technician will need access to your chest. You can wear a gown to cover up.
