What Do In-Home Nurses Do?

Home health nurses are nurses that help you manage your disease or condition by educating you about existing and new diagnoses, monitoring and teaching about your medications, addressing home safety issues, and instructing your caregivers. Baptist Health offers nursing care as one component of a complete suite of in-home medical services.

All care is provided or managed by registered nurses (RNs) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). This includes an initial evaluation of your medical situation, the establishment of a treatment plan that addresses your needs, and the coordination of more advanced forms of care. Our nurses work with certified nursing assistants, home health aides, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other medical professionals to deliver your care. Supplying durable medical equipment, including oxygen, and monitoring vital signs, are also among their responsibilities.

How Does In-Home Nursing Care Work?

In-home care delivery means that medical services come to you, rather than you going to a medical facility to receive treatment. Your rehabilitative therapy will be provided or overseen by a registered or licensed practical nurse.
