Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) provides oversight of research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acids, biohazardous materials, select biological agents, and other activities requiring biosafety review in accordance with applicable federal regulations, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guidelines, and Baptist Health policies. The Committee is responsible for reviewing research protocols, assessing biosafety risks, ensuring appropriate containment and safety measures, and promoting the protection of research participants, personnel, the community, and the environment.
