Chapel

The Tommy J. Smith Chapel is located on the first floor of the 1720 Building just off the lobby area. It is open around the clock for meditation and prayer.

Compliment Line

Baptist Health Lexington rewards staff for a job well done. If a member of our staff has expressed an extraordinary spirit of caring and giving, we'd like to know. Feel free to fill out a compliment card available in our waiting rooms. Then simply drop it in the mail or leave it at any hospital information desk. Firearms

Firearms are not allowed in the hospital unless a law enforcement officer is guarding a prisoner or performing other official duties.

Fire Drill

There may be a drill or test for fire or disaster safety while you are here. These are scheduled frequently. Please do not be disturbed if you see or hear evidence of such a practice drill. We care about your safety.

Food Services

The hospital cafeteria, Café Central, is located on the second floor between the South Tower and the 1720 Building. You may take the stairs in the 1720 Building lobby, or you may take one of the two elevators near the front entrance of the 1720 Building. 

Café Central is open every day. Hours are: Monday and Friday 6:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 6:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.- 2 a.m. The café is closed daily from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.

Café Central food options include:

  • Specialty and made-to-order salads
  • Several types of deli sandwiches
  • A variety of pizza choices by the slice
  • Hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken tenders
  • Hearty foods such as fried chicken, roast beef and side dishes
  • A grab & go area featuring prepackaged foods

Other dining locations are:

  • Café South – located on the first floor of the South Tower. 
  • Open Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Café North – located on the first floor of the North Tower. Hours: Monday and Friday 6:30 a.m. – 2 a.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 6 a.m.-11 a.m.
  •  Vending machines for snacks and drinks are located through the South and North Towers. Vending machines are available in each of the North Tower waiting rooms.

Gift Shop

Baptist Health Lexington's gift shop is staffed and run by members of our dedicated volunteer organization. Along with unique gifts, you'll find items ranging from books and candies to stuffed animals, toys and fresh flowers.

All profits go to support volunteer projects within the hospital. The shop is located on the first level of the 1720 Building. For your convenience, Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Hours are:

Monday - Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Interpreting Services and Services for the Blind

In compliance with Title VI as well as our mission to provide quality care, Baptist Health Lexington is pleased to accommodate patients and their family support persons who do not speak English as well as patients who are deaf or hard of hearing.

For non-English speaking patients, we provided interpretation for more than 280 languages and dialects through a contracted phone/video interpreting service as well as on-site interpreters when needed. We also have on-site sign language interpretation for patients who are deaf or hard of hearing. These services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are offered at no cost to the patient.

In addition, we have accommodations for our patients who are blind or have severe eye conditions. Interpreting information and resources for the blind are available house-wide. Nursing staff can be of assistance in accessing these services.

Mail & Flower Delivery

Any special deliveries such as mail, flowers or gifts are delivered directly to patient rooms by hospital volunteers. Mail should be addressed to:

Newspapers

The Lexington Herald-Leader may be purchased in Café South, on the first floor of the South Tower, or in machines located at Entrance B (1720 Building), Entrance C (South Tower) and at Entrance E (Emergency Department). 

Notary Services

All of the hospital chaplains are certified notaries and their services are available to patients at no cost. The staff will only notarize medical documents, but can provide information about an outside notary that can come to the hospital for other legal documents. To arrange for notary services, call Pastoral Care at 859.260.6575 or the on-call chaplain at 859.639.8980.

Overnight Stays

As a regional medical center, Baptist Health Lexington cares for many out-of-town patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

For the convenience of our out-of-town patients and visitors, we have made arrangements with nearby motels to give reduced rates. For complete information about reduced-rate lodging arrangements, please call Patient Relations at 859.260.6168. On weekends and after hours, you may contact the nursing house supervisor at 859.260.6100.

Parking

Patients and visitors headed to destinations in the South Tower or 1760, 1780 or 1800 buildings:

Please enter the campus using Entrance 2. The most convenient parking will be in the South Garage at any time or free valet parking in front of the 1760 Building from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Patients and visitors headed to destinations in the North Tower, the 1720 Building or the hallway between the 1720 Building and the South Tower:

Please enter the campus using Entrance 2. The most convenient parking will be in the North Garage at any time, or free valet parking in front of the 1720 Building from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Patients and visitors headed to destinations in the Cancer Center: 

Please enter the campus using Entrance 1. The most convenient parking will be in the West Deck parking lot, or free valet parking in front of the Cancer Center entrance from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Note: Physicians’ offices usually give cancer patients special parking instructions along with permits that will need to be displayed prominently in their vehicles. 

Patients and visitors headed to the Emergency Department:

Please enter the campus using Entrance 3. There is designated Emergency parking near the Emergency Department.

Patient Drop Off and Pickup

Patients may be dropped off at the South Tower entrance and the 1700 Building entrance. Patients needed to be seen in the Emergency Department may be dropped off at its entrance.

Patients are discharged from and may be picked up at the South Tower entrance and the 1700 Building entrance. Please check with the transporter who will accompanying the patient for the proper pickup location.

Phones and Phone Calls

All patient rooms have phones. To place a local call, dial 9 plus the number. For long-distance collect calls, dial 9 + 0 and you will get an outside operator to assist you.

If you are a patient in the South Tower, family and friends may call you directly by dialing 859.639.7 + your room number.

If you are a patient in the North Tower, family and friends may call you directly by dialing 859.639.8 + your room number.

Note: Outside phone calls are not accessible to Labor & Delivery and ICU patient rooms.

Smoking

Baptist Health Lexington is a tobacco-free campus. Our policy prohibits smoking and the use of any tobacco products including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, herbal tobacco products and chewing tobacco on the hospital campus as well as any facility owned or leased by the hospital.

If you use tobacco, prior to admission please discuss with your physician options for managing your tobacco use during your hospital stay. For family and visitors, nicotine replacement products are available for purchase in the Baptist Health Lexington Gift Shop, located in the lobby area of the 1720 Building.

Visiting Hours

Visitor restrictions are still in place to protect the patients and staff of Baptist Health during the COVID-19 pandemic but in recognition of the slowing of the curve of the numbers of cases. In accordance with directions from the governor, the following General Guidelines will be effective May 18, 2020. Some site specific variation will be communicated locally based on physical restrictions of waiting space or clinic space.

Waiting Rooms

Waiting rooms are located throughout the hospital. Remember, smoking is not permitted in Baptist Health Lexington. Our very ill patients appreciate your compliance with our no smoking policy.

Because of safety regulations, waiting rooms cannot be used for overnight sleeping. For your convenience, Baptist Health Lexington has made arrangements with several area motels for overnight stays at reduced rates for patient families.
