The Hospital Compare website reports on quality measures for more than 4,000 hospitals from around the country, and only 337 hospitals received five-star ratings – the highest possible score. The most common overall rating is three stars.
Baptist Health Lexington’s rating reflects its commitment to several patient quality metrics, such as how responsive hospital staff were to patient needs, how well nurses and doctors communicated with patients and the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment.
“The patient’s experience and outcome is central to everything we do here,” said William G. Sisson, Baptist Health Lexington president. “This national recognition illustrates the daily commitment our physicians, nurses and our entire staff have to delivering the best care possible and to constantly improve in every area.”
CMS publicly launched the hospital rating in 2016. The overall summary rating is based on a cumulative score from 57 measures across seven different areas: mortality, readmission, safety of care, patient experience, efficient use of medical imaging and timeliness and effectiveness of care.
