Amanda Prow receives lactation consultant certification

 

 (Madisonville, Ky.)  June 25, 2018 —Baptist Health Madisonville lactation nurse Amanda Prow is now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) is an international certification board with approximately 30,000 consultants in 108 countries.

“At Baptist, we strive to provide essential breastfeeding information to educate our moms about how important breastfeeding is to their infants’ growth and development,” Prow said. “Breastfeeding is the one single act of motherhood that dramatically and positively affects bonding, health, intelligence and psychological outcomes for a newborn.”

 

Prow facilitates a free monthly breastfeeding class and support group at the hospital. The Basics of Breastfeeding class meets from 5 to 6:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month, while the support group for breastfeeding mothers meets 5 to 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month.
