Baptist Health Lexington will staff a table each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17-21 outside the hospital’s main cafeteria to provide information about organ and tissue donation and offer an opportunity to join the Kentucky Organ Donor Registry.
Baptist Health Lexington is joining other area hospitals and Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) in the National Hospital Organ Donation Campaign. The effort challenges hospitals to educate employees, patients, visitors and the community about the crucial need for organ, eye and tissue donation.
The campaign, which has helped to register nearly 400,000 people to state registries, aims to add more donor designations by May.
The Baptist Health Lexington table will be set up near the entrance to Café Central on the second level of the 1720 building.
A Donor Family Quilt memorializing and honoring Kentucky individuals who helped others through organ and tissue donations will be on display at the table Friday, April 21, which will be Organ Donor Awareness Day.
Those who cannot visit the table may learn more about organ donation and join the registry by visiting http://donatelife.net/ndlm/
