I'm so glad that you all have come out to celebrate this major milestone with us. The groundbreaking for our new patient care wing that's going right here in the location that we're setting right now. Today's groundbreaking represents a significant investment, not only facilities, but in people, innovation, and the future of health care right here in Southeastern Kentucky.

I'm counting our blessings here at Baptist Health Corbin one by one. I'm thankful for all of you who are here to help us take the next step in advancing care in our communities.

This new patient care wing represents a renewed promise from Baptist Health to take care of our community the very best way that we know how.

Baptist Health Corbin is expanding to meet the growing healthcare needs of southeastern Kentucky. This transformative project represents a major investment in access, quality, and patient-centered care for the region.

Project Highlights

  • Total Expansion Size: 80,000 square feet.
  • Location: Adjacent to current hospital, connected by enclosed pedestrian bridge.
  • Estimated Completion: June 2027.
  • Project Cost: $100 Million.

    • Doubles current ED space
    • Designed to accommodate up to 60,000 patient visits annually.
    • Modern trauma and triage areas to improve flow and reduce wait times.
  • New Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
    • Expands ICU from 10 to 24 private patient rooms.
    • Enhanced technology and space for complex, high-acuity care.
  • Private Inpatient Rooms
    • Adds 24 private rooms on the second floor, allowing for all-private acute care nursing units.
    • Enhances patient privacy, comfort, and infection control.
  • Relocated Helipad
    • Rooftop location directly above the new ED.
    • Faster access for air medical transport.
  • Pedway Connector
    • Climate-controlled bridge linking new expansion with existing hospital.
    • Ensures safe and efficient patient transfers.
  • Power Plant and Chiller Expansion
    • Supports increased energy demands and system reliability.
  • NICU Growth Opportunity
    • Current ICU space to be converted into an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
    • NICU to grow from 2,165 sq. ft. to 6,647 sq. ft.
