Certified Nurses, including Advanced Practice nurses at Baptist Health Paducah, serve as leaders and mentors. They support evidence-based practice and are anchored by nursing research. They support the bedside nurse, working in the following areas:

Research

The Research Coordinator oversees nursing and institutional research related to recruitment, documentation, submission or IRB materials, sponsor/clinical research, compliance with all federal and local requirements, protection of patient safety, and provision of technical support related to data collection.

The Research Coordinator and Nurse Researcher also provide technical nursing support related to data collection of research.

Diabetes Education

The Certified Diabetes Educator is responsible for facilitating diabetes self management education (DSME), incorporating the needs, goals and life experiences of the person with pre-diabetes or diabetes and guided by evidence-based standards. Objectives are informed decision-making, self-care behaviors, problem-solving and active collaboration with the healthcare team and improved clinical outcomes, health status, and quality of life.

The Diabetes Educator is a resource to the nurses with information on the care of the diabetic patient.

Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care

The Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse collaborates with other healthcare specialists evidence-based, cost effective and individualized patient care, with a dual focus on complication prevention and disease state management.
