The TytoCare Device: Your Doctor's Eyes and Ears for Video Visits
A TytoCare device you purchase is a handheld device that enables a provider to perform remote medical exams. The TytoCare kit includes a camera, sensors on the device, plus attachments for examining and monitoring:
- Temperature
- Heart rate and heart sounds
- Lung sounds, like breathing, coughing and congestion
- Ear canal and eardrum appearance
- Throat and vocal cord conditions
- Abdominal sounds
- Skin rashes, bug bites and other skin conditions
TytoCare devices are FDA approved and can be purchased using your FSA/HSA.
When Is TytoCare Most Commonly Used?
TytoCare devices can be used in many situations, including:
- To skip the drive to urgent care
- For minor illnesses such as ear aches, sore throat, pink eye, fever, rashes, sinus congestion, stomach aches, asthma & cough or cold
- It's the middle of the night or after business hours
- Concerns about being exposed to illnesses from others
- When you're short on time

Do All Baptist Health Providers Offer TytoCare?

Can I Use TytoCare?
TytoCare is available to use with all urgent care video visits and some Baptist Health primary care providers for patients of all ages. Of course, any medical problem that requires physical assistance (getting stitches, for example) must be handled through in-person care.
Important: TytoCare is not a substitute for calling 911 for emergency services.
Will My Insurance Cover a TytoCare Medical Exam Kit and Services?
While insurance doesn't currently cover TytoCare devices, you can use for HSA or FSA plan to pay for a TytoCare device ($150). Remember, one TytoCare device can be used for the entire family.
Most insurance plans' coverage for TytoCare visits are covered the same as other telehealth visits. If you have any questions, you should contact your insurance provider for details.

How Do I Get Set Up for TytoCare?
Getting set up is relatively simple, but it does take some time and effort so it's a good idea to take the steps above before you need care. To prepare for TytoCare video visits, you must:
- Have a current iOS or Android device (smartphone or tablet)
- Purchase a TytoCare device
- Create a (free) Baptist Health MyChart account
- Complete the informative 10-minute TytoAcademy to learn how to use the device for when you may need it
- Register your TytoCare device and pair it with your MyChart account
- Be sure your TytoCare device is charged before your next use
