If you have back pain that seems like it's
worse than the normal aches and pains that

you have after working outside or
gardening, or doing normal things that can

make you just feel sore,
it's a good idea to go see your

primary care doctor.

When patients come into our office for the
first time, the first thing we do is get a

comprehensive history and physical on them
to find what's worked and what hasn't.

A lot of patients will have gone through
a lot of the conservative measures that we

can do, and many will get quite
a bit of relief before they ever set

foot in our office, which is ideal.

So, when they come to us we'll see
what's been done and what hasn't,

and we'll try anything that we can that
we think will give them the best chance

of relief and long-term recovery
and better quality of life.

When patients have gone through some
of those things, there are a lot of other

therapies that we can provide, including
what's called a Spinal Cord Stimulator

which involves helping to decrease the
amount of pain signals that actually reach

the brain from the low back
and the legs, or the arms and the hands.

For most of my patients,
I tell them that what I'm doing is to

try to get you back
to living a normal life.

I want you to get in touch with
learning and listening to your body

so that you don't overdo it.

But we want to make sure that chronic pain
isn't the thing that's limiting you.

It's basically just your ability to do
the things you want to be able to do.
