LA GRANGE, Ky. (May 19, 2026)Baptist Health La Grange has earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in the latest release of its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings.

This year, only 384 hospitals nationwide — and just five in Kentucky — received a five-star rating.

CMS ratings are published annually. Hospitals are given a rating of one to five stars based on measures such as safety, patient experience, readmissions and mortality. The rating comes from a federal source and uses the same standards nationwide. CMS makes its hospital ratings available through the Care Compare tool on Medicare.gov, giving patients a way to review ratings and compare hospitals based on cost, quality of care and other data.

Clint Kaho, President of Baptist Health La Grange, said having a five-star hospital close to home matters for the communities the hospital serves.

“These ratings show what we’ve known at Baptist Health La Grange for a long time — the care available here in our community is among the best,” Kaho said. “We have an outstanding team delivering excellent care and we’re proud to provide that to the community.”

In addition to its overall rating, CMS also recognizes Baptist Health La Grange as “birthing-friendly” on Care Compare, a designation for hospitals that participate in quality improvement efforts and follow evidence-based practices to support maternal health. It means families can stay close to home, and their support systems, during pregnancy and delivery.

Earlier this month, Baptist Health La Grange received an “A” in The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grades, a national measure of patient safety. It is the only hospital in the greater Louisville area to receive both a Leapfrog “A” and a CMS five-star rating in the latest reporting periods.

Baptist Health La Grange has been serving Oldham County and surrounding communities for more than 30 years, providing a full range of healthcare, including emergency care, surgical services, maternity care, primary care and behavioral health. Care is available through the emergency department, a nearby Urgent Care, and Baptist Health primary care practices in Crestwood, La Grange, and Campbellsburg.
