Dr. Janet Renee Chipman is a general surgeon, board certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) for over 20 years and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons for over 20 years . Her clinical focus primarily involves parathyroid and thyroid surgery as well as laparoscopic procedures, colorectal surgery, colonoscopy, abdominal and hiatal hernia repair, and gallbladder disease. She believes in patient-centered surgical care, attempting to provide the most minimally invasive surgical procedures, with a thoughtful evaluation of each patient, recognizing the individualized risk and benefit for each patient, rather than a cookie cutter approach. She has a history of service, previously acting on the Committee for Development of Written Recertification Exam for the ABS as well as serving as an Associate Examiner for Oral ABS Board Certification. She served on the Committee for Interviewing American College of Surgeons Applicants. She has served in multiple roles at Baptist hospital including Chair of the Patient Care Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Chief of Staff and the Credentials Committee. She is presently the Physician President for the Kentuckiana Region of the Baptist Health Medical Group. Prior to Baptist, she received her degrees at University of Kentucky (Chemical Engineering) followed by obtaining her Professional Engineers License and then went on to medical school (graduating Summa Cum Laude) and residency at the University of Louisville.
