The Blankenbaker facility marks the first of its kind in Kentucky, merging urgent care and a full-service emergency room under one roof.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 30, 2023) - Baptist Health, in partnership with Dallas-based Intuitive Health, today announced its second dual emergency and urgent care facility will open on April 3. The Blankenbaker facility marks the first of its kind in Kentucky, merging urgent care and a full-service emergency room under one roof. Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Blankenbaker is located at 11701 Bluegrass Pkwy., Suite 100, Louisville, KY 40299.

"Baptist Health is excited to be opening our second combined ER and urgent care in the Jefferson County and Southern Indiana markets," said Larry Gray, president of Baptist Health Louisville. “Baptist Health Louisville is committed to the best patient experience while providing accessible and competent health care to Louisville and surrounding communities.”

What sets the dual ER and urgent care model apart from other healthcare options is that every patient is billed based on their condition versus being billed based on the type of facility a person receives treatment. The combination of high-quality care alongside financial transparency has proven to increase patient outcomes.

The unique model treats both emergent and non-emergent conditions, removing the need for patients to self-diagnose or choose between levels of care. Every patient is seen by an on-site ER-trained physician who determines the necessary level of care needed. With an unwavering commitment to financial transparency, the model promises that patients will only pay for the level of care needed.

Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Blankenbaker’s new facility offers access to a 24/7 emergency room with ER-trained physicians on staff and extended urgent care hours. Offering a comprehensive range of medical services under one roof, the facility has on-site lab equipment and a radiology suite with X-ray and a multi-slice CT scanner. The combined ER & urgent care will treat minor illnesses like colds, flu, earaches, sore throats, and emergency conditions such as strokes, heart attacks, and seizures. The experienced staff can handle medical emergencies with the same level of care and expertise as a hospital-based emergency room. Both children and adults are welcome to visit Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Blankenbaker. No appointment is ever needed.

"Our continued relationship with Baptist Health demonstrates their patient-focused commitment to value-based care," said Thom Herrmann, chief operating officer of Intuitive Health. "Based on our performance measures, Intuitive Health has mastered the health care experience and has a model that repeatedly exceeds customer expectations. As our twenty-first location, our patient-centric focus remains on improving the quality of care delivery. We congratulate Baptist Health and look forward to serving more residents of Kentucky and Southern Indiana."

Beginning Monday, April 3, Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care's emergency room will be open 24/7, and urgent care will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
