Nursing Rewards and Recognition
Baptist Health Louisville strongly believes in the importance of recognizing the work of our nurses. We achieve his goal through various programs and events.
DAISY Award
The DAISY Award was created in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes, a young man who passed away from an acute illness. The award endeavors to recognize exceptionally compassionate care given by nurses. The Daisy Award has been adopted by healthcare facilities worldwide as the most coveted award a nurse can receive. Baptist Health Louisville has been a partner hospital with the DAISY Foundation since 2013, recognizing nearly one hundred nurses thus far.
BEE Award
Baptist Health Louisville recently launched the BEE Award, a program designed to parallel the DAISY Award for nurses, the BEE Award is designed to recognize and celebrate extraordinary nursing assistants and nursing support staff. BEE Award recipients embody the principles of going above and beyond in caring for and serving patients, families, and team members with exceptional compassion.
Nurse of the Year and Nursing Excellence Awards
Every unit/department where nurses practice is invited to peer-select a Nurse of the Year annually. Nurses of the Year for each unit are celebrated at the Nursing Excellence banquet every fall. Additionally, the Nurse Excellence Awards are given at this banquet. These awards have rigorous criteria, making them elite to receive. These winners exemplify the very best of Baptist Health nurses in several categories such as Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Nightingale for lifetime achievement.
