Baptist Health Paducah enhances breast cancer treatment precision with new Magseed Pro technology
PADUCAH, KY (Oct. 30, 2025) — Baptist Health Paducah has expanded its use of advanced magnetic localization technology to improve accuracy and outcomes in breast cancer surgery with the addition of Magseed Pro®, the next generation of Endomag’s magnetic seed localization system.
The hospital was the first in the region to introduce the Sentimag® Magnetic Localization System in 2021, which uses magnetic sensing to detect Magseed® and Magtrace® markers for tumor localization and lymph node mapping. Now with the addition of Magseed Pro®, Baptist Health Paducah continues to advance local breast cancer care with enhanced precision, flexibility, and patient comfort.
“Using Magseed Pro® makes it easier to mark, track, and accurately remove breast cancer,” said Kristen Williams, MD, surgeon with Baptist Health Medical Group General Surgery. “This new technology gives us the ability to localize multiple areas at once, use smaller incisions, and complete the procedure with greater precision. It truly takes the level of care we can provider here in Paducah to the next level.”
Magseed Pro® offers several advancements designed to improve both accuracy and convenience. The seed can be placed at any time prior to surgery and is engineered to self-expand once positioned, anchoring securely in the tissue to prevent movement or damage. During surgery the new Magseed Pro® marker provides millimeter-level guidance from any angle and allows surgeons to either pinpoint the seed’s signal or measure its exact distance.
Patients receive the benefit of a less invasive experience and a smaller incision due to the smaller size of the new marker. This new technology also offers surgeons the ability to use multiple seeds to create a larger sensing zone specific to each patient and offers greater guidance during bracketing procedures.
The addition of Magseed Pro® reflects Baptist Health Paducah’s commitment to providing the region with latest in cancer diagnostics and treatments, ensuring patients have access to the care they need right here at home.
