Baptist Health Paducah encourages vascular screenings to reduce risk of stroke
PADUCAH, KY (May 28, 2025) — Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States among all people groups but early detection through preventive screenings can save lives. Baptist Health Paducah offers a comprehensive vascular screening package to help patients better understand their overall cardiovascular health.
The package includes three non-invasive and painless screenings:
- Carotid Artery Ultrasound - screens for blockages in the neck that could lead to stroke.
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) scan - identifies potentially life-threatening bulges in the abdominal aorta.
- Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) – checks for peripheral artery disease by comparing blood pressure in the arms and legs.
Waiting for symptoms to appear before taking action can be risky,” said Alex Sapp, MD, vascular surgeon with Baptist Health Medical Group Vascular Surgery. “Screenings like these give patients a valuable opportunity to catch warning signs early and take steps to protect their health before problems become more serious.
The screenings are available per screening for $35 or as a package of all three for $75, with no referral needed.
These simple tests can help detect potentially serious vascular conditions before symptoms appear.
