Baptist Health Paducah encourages community to prioritize self care during National Wellness Month

Baptist Health Paducah. August 14, 2025

PADUCAH, KY (Aug. 15, 2025) — Life moves fast, and it’s easy to put your health on the back burner. This month Baptist Health Paducah is reminding community members to focus on wellness. From managing stress to improving sleep, small changes can make a big difference in how you feel every day.

National Wellness Month is a time to recognize that well-being is not just physical health but also mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Whether you’re navigating a cramped schedule or just looking for ways to feel your best, this month is an opportunity to establish habits that support long-term health.

“Many people get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and tend to put their health on the back burner. If we don't make our health a priority, we won't be around to help those that need us,” said Dr. Teri Stapleton with Baptist Health Medical Group Primary Care. “Busy routines can lead to a lack of self-care that can result in stress, fatigue, and burnout. By taking time to prioritize your health, you can build healthy habits that can boost energy levels, mood, and general quality of life.”

Wellness tips to try this month:

  • Start with a nutritious breakfast, plan healthy lunches, and swap processed snacks for fruits, veggies, or nuts.
  • Drink enough water throughout the day to support energy levels and cognitive function.
  • Recognize stress triggers and develop healthy coping techniques like mindfulness, breathing, or regular exercise.
  • Good hand hygiene is a simple but effective way to protect yourself and others from illness.
  • Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week. Even a daily walk can help!
  • Strive for 7–9 hours of sleep each night to feel energized and focused.

The first step is meeting with a primary care provider each year for a wellness check-up.
