Baptist Health Paducah announces students selected for its annual Pre-Med Academy
Paducah, KY (June 12, 2025) — Baptist Health Paducah is excited to welcomes 27 college students to its ninth annual Pre-Med Academy for the next eight weeks. Throughout the program, the students will shadow physicians, advanced practice clinicians and other providers while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
This year’s students include: Bella Brown, Jacob Burkhart, Skylar Cartwright, Adyson Chambers, Sawyer Collins, Alexis Fleet, Ellie Foltz, Kyle Gossett, Emelia Hassler, Justina Leing, Rachel Loganbill, Landon McCartney, Bryce Milby, Lucy Moore, Molly Musselman, Kendall Narcisse, Om Patel, Andrew Record, Hannah Riley, Nathaniel Skinner, Ava Slack, Mary Stephens, Conner Thomas, Jenna Turley, Madeline Underwood, Jackson Williams, and Luke Wilson.
This class represents nine colleges including Auburn University, Georgetown College, Murray State University, University, St. Louis University, University of Alabama, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, University of Mississippi, and Western Kentucky University.
During the program, students will learn from physicians and other healthcare providers in various departments including bariatrics, cardiology, emergency, family practice, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology/radiation therapy, pulmonary, podiatry, pediatrics, radiology, rehab services, and urology. Many students look forward to the unique opportunity to observe physicians in the operating room during surgery.
The academy is structured to assist students in the development of their future medical careers by giving them valuable experience to share during medical school interviews and assisting them in building meaningful mentoring relationships with healthcare providers.
Pre-Med Academy is a paid program that requires students to work approximately 24-32 hours a week. All current and future applicants must have completed at least one semester of college. Each applicant was also required to provide a transcript of their latest semester of college showing a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher.
