Baptist Health Paducah advances obstructive Sleep Apnea Care with Inspire Excellence Designation

Baptist Health Paducah. December 16, 2025

PADUCAH, KY (Dec. 18, 2025) — Shawn Jones, MD, Otolaryngologist with Baptist Health Medical Group Ear, Nose & Throat, has been recognized as an Inspire Excellence Member for delivering outstanding patient care and clinical outcomes. Inspire Therapy is an advanced obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatment option for those who cannot use Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for our success with Inspire therapy,” said Dr. Jones “This innovation is a significant advancement in OSA treatment, clinically proven to reduce sleep apnea events, has a high level of patient satisfaction and a strong adherence to therapy.”

Sleep apnea is one of the most overlooked health conditions that can have serious effects on an individual’s health and wellbeing. OSA affects 22 million Americans, leading to significant health and safety risks, including vehicle and workplace accidents, mood and memory issues, and series conditions like stroke and heart attack.

While CPAP is the primary treatment for OSA, many patients do not benefit from it or cannot tolerate it. Baptist Health Paducah offers Inspire to help meet these patients’ needs and has been awarded an Excellence designation for advancing patient care pathways.

“Inspire therapy allows us to offer an alternative that improves quality of life by reducing symptoms and restoring restful sleep,” added Dr. Jones.

Inspire seamlessly integrates with a patient’s natural breathing to treat sleep apnea. It uses mild stimulation to open the airway during sleep, allowing oxygen to flow naturally. Patients control the device with a small remote, turning it on before sleeping and off upon waking.

The Inspire system is implanted in a brief outpatient procedure, with two small incisions made in the neck and chest. Most patients go home the same day and manage pain with over-the-counter medication.
