Baptist Health La Grange earns worldwide designation for nursing excellence

Baptist Health La Grange. August 10, 2023

(LA GRANGE, Ky.) August 11, 2023 — Baptist Health La Grange has once again been officially designated as a Pathway to Excellence® facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

The Pathway designation is a global credential that highlights Baptist Health La Grange’s commitment to creating a healthy work environment where nurses feel empowered and valued. Baptist Health La Grange’s nurses are an integral part of the healthcare team, with a voice in policy and practice. Pathway nurses are engaged, resulting in higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety, and better patient outcomes.

Currently, there are only 206 Pathway recognized organizations worldwide, and only six in the state of Kentucky.

This is Baptist Health La Grange’s third Pathway designation from ANCC. The hospital first earned its first designation in 2015 and has successfully maintained that status through two redesignation applications.

As a Pathway organization, Baptist Health La Grange leads the effort to enhance quality of care, patient and nursing safety, and the future of healthcare delivery. Successful designation means that an organization has demonstrated a strong nursing culture of:

  • Shared decision making
  • Leadership
  • Safety
  • Quality
  • Well-being
  • Professional development

Nathan Wilson, vice president and chief nursing officer, said the Pathway designation is a testament to the outstanding care provided by nurses and strong nursing culture at Baptist Health La Grange.

“I am so proud of the nursing culture we have built at Baptist Health La Grange,” Wilson said. “Earning a third straight Pathway designation shows how connected, engaged, and supportive our nurses are. Our patients and community benefit from the dedication of our nurses, and I’m grateful our hospital was recognized for it.”
