RICHMOND, Ky., September 1, 2020 – Lora M. King, MSA, BSN, RN, SANE, has been named the director of Behavioral Health Services at Baptist Health Richmond. Lora has been the director of Emergency Services since 2016 and the director of Cardiovascular Services since 2019.

Katelyn Arvin, LPCC, will work alongside Lora as the Behavioral Health manager. Katelyn was most recently the Lead Clinical Navigator for Behavioral Health.

The announcement comes after Baptist Health Richmond assumed full operational oversight of Behavioral Health Services. Previously the service line and team were managed by Baptist Health Corbin. The transition to Baptist Health Richmond will allow the Behavioral Health Services team to enhance services to meet the increasing need for mental health support within the local community. The team will continue to work with our sister hospital in Corbin to refer patients for inpatient treatment as needed.

”This transition of services is certainly a step in the right direction for Baptist Health Richmond and makes a bold statement in terms of affirming our commitment to the community,” said Mendy Blair, DNP, RN-BC, NE-BC, CENP, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “We are staking our claim here in Richmond to serve those in need of behavioral health services. This move will allow us to create a more seamless, comprehensive approach in offering mental health and substance abuse support right here at home. Lora and Katelyn both share an unwavering drive and passion for improving the quality of lives for others. I am excited to see how far the behavioral health program can reach in doing just that under their capable leadership.”

Lora and Katelyn will lead their team to collaborate with community partners, hospital leadership and hospital staff to increase the awareness of the behavioral health services and resources available.

“I’m honored to be given the opportunity to lead the Behavioral Health Services team as we work to enhance the services we provide our community. This group of clinicians are truly passionate about providing care to patients who are in need and connecting them with resources to support their wellness,” said King. “We will continue to cultivate partnerships in our community to ensure we are collaborating with key stakeholders to fully understand the needs of those we serve, while working to grow our services in a meaningful way.”

Lora earned her masters of science from Union College and bachelors of science in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and is a native of Berea, Kentucky. Lora will also continue to serve as the director of Emergency and Cardiovascular Services.

Katelyn received her masters of arts in clinical mental health counseling and bachelors in psychology from Eastern Kentucky University and resides in Richmond. She is a recent graduate of Leadership Madison County.
