Hardin Memorial Health (HMH) and Dr. Larry Hall announced today that Dr. Hall would dismiss his Petition for Rehearing in the Kentucky Court of Appeals

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – November 1, 2019 --- Hardin Memorial Health (HMH) and Dr. Larry Hall announced today that Dr. Hall would dismiss his Petition for Rehearing in the Kentucky Court of Appeals and HMH would simultaneously dismiss its Motion to Dismiss and/or Motion to Sanction Frivolous Appeal.

As a result of the two legal actions being dismissed, the sale of HMH to Baptist Health, which had been held up in the courts, may now proceed.

Hardin County Judge/Executive Harry Berry, chairman of the HMH Board of Trustees, said, “We are pleased that Dr. Hall has made this decision, thereby allowing us the opportunity to significantly improve healthcare opportunities throughout Central Kentucky. We will now move forward as swiftly as possible to complete our sale agreement with Baptist Health and begin to deliver the significant benefits to Central Kentucky residents that we are confident will result from this landmark affiliation.”

The decisions by HMH and Dr. Hall to cease their respective legal actions removes all existing legal hurdles to the sale, which was first affirmed by the Hardin Circuit Court in May 2018 and then by the Kentucky Court of Appeals in October 2018.

HMH President and CEO Dennis Johnson said, “This is great news for the HMH team and all healthcare consumers in Hardin County and our entire 10-county service area. This means we can soon begin to capitalize on the promise of clinical improvements, physician recruiting, facilities and equipment upgrading and all the other positive benefits that will flow from being part of the Baptist Health system. We will work with Baptist Health to set a new date for closing.”
