Baptist Health Madisonville and The Paragon partner to offer dementia support group
(Madisonville, Ky.) April 9, 2019 —Baptist Health Madisonville, in partnership with The Paragon, is providing a new support group for caregivers and families of those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The group will help caregivers through common experiences, emotional encouragement and spiritual support.
The group will meet at 3 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at The Paragon, 137 Stagecoach Road in Madisonville, and be facilitated by Jennifer Hibbs, Community Education Manager from Baptist Health Madisonville’s Behavioral Health Unit. The first meeting will be April 23.
“Melanie Tapp from The Paragon and I were both pursuing this project individually, but when we realized we had the same goals we decided to partner together to better serve this population,” stated Hibbs.
“While working with the senior population we encounter caregivers and families that are unsure of how to cope or where to turn when they need assistance. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive group environment that will offer solutions to caregiving challenges and to make people aware of the resources available. We want this community to know that we are here to provide assistance and support because they are not in this alone,” added Hibbs.
