(Madisonville, Ky.) Apr. 24, 2018 — Linda Thomas PhD, MSN, RN, has been named chairperson of the Baptist Health Madisonville Administrative Board of Directors. Thomas will serve a two-year term, which began Jan. 1, 2018, providing leadership to the hospital’s efforts in caring for our region.
“We are honored to have Linda serve as chairperson of our board of directors,” said Robert Ramey, Baptist Health Madisonville president. “Her leadership and healthcare experience will be an asset as we work together to serve our community.”
Thomas is a retired nurse educator with over 35 years in nursing education at Madisonville Community College as Professor and Nursing Program Coordinator and at Murray State University as the RN-BSN Program Coordinator. During her career she received numerous awards including the Loman C. Trover Award for outstanding contributions in healthcare in 2002, Nurse of the Year from the Kentucky Nurses Association in 2016, and was appointed by Governor Jones to the Kentucky Board of Nursing from 1993-1997, serving as President in 1997. She is also involved with numerous civic and volunteer organizations.
“The employees and administration at Baptist Health Madisonville are passionate about providing safe, quality care with an exceptional patient experience in a faith-based environment,” Thomas said. “My role on the Baptist Health Madisonville Board of Directors these past four years has been a tremendous experience for me in looking at the ever-changing needs of a large multi-specialty hospital right here in my hometown. It has made me realize the importance of local healthcare to my community. I look forward to my new role”, added Thomas.
Thomas takes the Board Chair position over from Steve Cox who reached his term limit in January, but remains an active member of the Board of Directors. “I have enjoyed my time as Board Chair with Baptist Health Madisonville,” Cox said. “Our local hospital is one of our greatest assets and I am proud of the work we have achieved so far to ensure that our community has the healthcare facility that we need to care for our families. I am confident in Linda’s leadership as we continue to adapt to the changing environment that is healthcare today,” added Cox.
