Marissa Scent, PharmD:

Hyperlipidemia is elevated blood cholesterol levels. Patients should be screened regularly by their primary care physician to know if they have high cholesterol. Screening should continue every three to five years depending on those initial results. Patients with established cardiovascular disease should be seen more often and be seen by a cardiologist.

David Jones:

A few years ago I had a heart attack and I came here because of this place's reputation. They put in two stents and I was in a room. Then I was referred to this place for some medication and that's what got me to this point.

Marissa Scent, PharmD:

Here at Baptist Health Corbin, we have a medication management clinic that has a hyperlipidemia program. Providers can refer their patients to us to help with insurance coverage, patient education, and following the patients along with their cardiologist or their primary care provider. The patient's visit with a pharmacist includes in-depth one-on-one education where the patient can really understand how the medication works, potential side effects they should watch out for, as well as laboratory monitoring that needs to be followed up on and additional appointments that they may need.

David Jones:

They go out of their way to do things. They take care of everything. They do everything for me. All I have to do is show up.

Marissa Scent, PharmD:

The ultimate goal of the clinic is for patients to receive medications that are safe and effective and accessible to them to help reduce their risk of heart attack and stroke.
