NEW ALBANY, IN (October 29, 2025) - When Rebecca “Becca” Clark walks the halls of Baptist Health Floyd, she already feels at home.

The new chief nursing officer says the warmth and teamwork she has experienced since arriving reflect exactly why she chose Baptist Health Floyd.

Clark brings more than 15 years of nursing and leadership experience to her new role at the hospital, along with a genuine passion for people, teamwork, and patient care.

She is “thrilled” to be at Baptist Health Floyd.

“Everyone has been so welcoming — from leaders and directors to the frontline staff — has been so kind,” she said. “For such a large hospital, it truly has a family feeling, and I’m so grateful to be part of it.”

Before joining Baptist Health, Clark served as vice president and chief nursing officer for the Indiana University Health Northeast Region in Fort Wayne. She has also been associate chief nursing officer of operations at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and interim CNO at IU Health Jay Hospital. Alongside her leadership roles, she servesd as adjunct nursing faculty at the Indiana University School of Nursing.

Her education includes an Associate Degree in Nursing from Ivy Tech Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University East, a Master’s in Nursing Leadership from Western Governors University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.

Clark is active in professional organizations such as the American Organization for Nursing Leadership and the Indiana State Nurses Association, and she has served on the Board of Directors for Healthier Moms and Babies and the Leadership Advisory Council for IU’s School of Nursing in Fort Wayne.

Originally from Indiana, Clark recently moved to downtown New Albany and is enjoying getting to know the community.

“One of the best parts of moving here is being closer to my sister, who lives in Ohio. We are best friends and see each other every other weekend — it is wonderful,” she said.

Moving closer to her sister was not the only reason Clark chose to move to New Albany.

“I knew a little about Mike (Schroyer, president of Baptist Health Floyd) and all the great work he has done building cardio hospitals, and when this opportunity came up, I jumped at it. Mike has done an excellent job here — he does that wherever he goes.”

In her first few months, Clark is focused on strengthening the healthcare workforce and supporting engagement across all nursing teams.

“Our frontline nurses, managers, and directors are our biggest advocates,” she said. “When they feel supported and happy, they share that energy with others — and that helps us attract and retain great people.”

Safety and quality are also top priorities for Clark.

“We owe it to our patients to make sure they’re safe and receiving the best care possible,” she said. “I am partnering with other leaders to start a zero harm committee to help us continue driving toward that goal.”

Looking ahead, Clark wants to build a strong culture of shared governance where nurses feel empowered and heard.

“I want our teams to know their voices matter. If someone has an idea or wants to try something new, we will listen. We cannot always say yes, but we will always be honest and transparent.”

Integrity is at the heart of Clark’s leadership philosophy.

“The most important thing to me is integrity — doing the right thing, no matter who’s watching,” she said. “Skills can be taught, but integrity can’t.”

Clark comes from a long line of caregivers — her mother and sister are both nurses, and her father is a Baptist preacher.

“We were always raised to serve and help others,” she said. “That’s what nursing is all about.”

Outside of work, Clark and her husband enjoy spending time with their three adult children and exploring their new community.

When asked what she would tell someone about Baptist Health Floyd, she said she would tell them the hospital is a “great” place filled with “great” people.

“We’re growing our services, recruiting top providers, clinical team members, and amazing people throughout every department that help us do incredible things,” she said. “I’m so excited to be here and to work alongside such an amazing team.”
