Baptist Health Hardin reminds community of highway construction, median closure near hospital

October 13, 2022

Change may impact patients who are coming to the hospital for testing or procedures.

Elizabethtown, KY (Oct. 13, 2022) – Earlier this week, the center median of Dixie Avenue was closed between Diecks/Cardinal Drive and the US-31 Bypass.

This change may impact patients who are coming to the hospital for testing or procedures. While all hospital entrances from Dixie Avenue, remain open, the median closure has limited the access to those entrances.

Northbound traffic cannot turn left from Dixie Avenue into any of the hospital entrances.

To access the hospital while traveling north, drivers can take one of the following routes:

  • Turn left onto Cardinal Drive and then right into the parking lot adjacent to the parking garage
  • Continue to the US-31 by pass where they can make a U-turn and access the hospital from the southbound lands.

Southbound traffic can still easily access all Dixie Avenue entrances to the hospital.

Additional signage is being placed to help drivers navigate this area.

The construction in front of the hospital is part of a larger construction project that extends from Radcliff to Elizabethtown. It is unrelated to the hospital construction that is currently underway.
