A sleep study is basically a diagnostic test, which can be done at home, as well as in a sleep lab depending on the situation. Most of the patient actually require a sleep study at home. That can be done easily. Patient stay in home environment, get a little equipment from the sleep lab, and put it on.

We monitor snoring, oxygen level, breathing pattern, heart rhythm, and body position. And the data we get through the sleep study actually help us diagnose a condition called sleep disordered breathing or sleep apnea. So we do the sleep study, find out what's the problem is. For example, the problem is, obstructive sleep apnea.

We give them a machine called AutoPAP. As soon as the patient get used to the equipment, they feel much better. Their blood pressure also start getting better. They get a restful sleep.

They are more vigilant during the daytime, no more bad sleepiness. Snoring is gone. Even their spouse getting a better night's sleep. They are so happy.

They feel like a different person. They have more energy. Their life completely changed. The risk of, coronary artery disease or heart attack goes down when you start treating sleep apnea.

So treating sleep apnea actually has a survival benefit. Patient live better, breathe better, and live longer.
