Baptist Health Paducah celebrates the five-year anniversary of its Ray and Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Center
The region's only comprehensive cancer center.
(PADUCAH, KENTUCKY) July 7 - The Ray & Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Care Center at Baptist Health Paducah celebrates five years of treating patients in the region’s only comprehensive cancer center that provides a variety of cancer services, including lab, pharmacy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The hospital and its staff are proud to provide a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer that allows the Paducah community to stay close to home.
Baptist Health Paducah’s cancer center is nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is the area’s only center where comprehensive cancer care services are provided under one roof.
“The whole process of going through treatment for malignancy is very devastating to a person, emotionally, financially, and not just the patient, but the entire family is affected,” said Peter Locken, MD, Radiation Oncologist. “If a person lives in Paducah or in a nearby community, they don’t have to relocate and be away from their friends, family and support groups. Patients are able to stay at home, stay in their daily routine as much as possible and enjoy their life with as much normalcy as possible. We’re very blessed to have the facilities that we have here at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Cancer Center.”
Since the groundbreaking in 2017, the Ray & Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Center has cared for more than 5,000 patients. This center was thoughtfully designed around patient needs to provide them with convenience and comfort.
The team that designed this center asked questions and listened to suggestions from patients and physicians during the building process. The team also visited cancer centers as far south as Alabama and as far north as Chicago to incorporate best practices and design features into Paducah’s comprehensive cancer center.
Today, the Ray & Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Center includes 25 infusion suites with heated chairs, TVs and views of the healing garden. The center also hosts two radiation therapy units, a resource room for group, family or patient meetings, access to the healing gardens and physician offices located in the same building for quick and convenient access. This advanced cancer care center treats all types of cancers and does so with the latest and most innovative technology.
The Ray & Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Center can provide you with the quality care you deserve without the stress of leaving home. The center is located at the corner of Broadway and 24th Street. To make an appointment, call 270.575.2780.
