Baptist Health Hardin opens new heart failure clinic

The clinic is dedicated to helping patients manage their heart failure symptoms.

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY – (Nov. 11, 2022) - Striving to meet the healthcare needs of central Kentucky’s growing population, Baptist Health Hardin is taking heart care to the next level. The Baptist Health Heart Failure Clinic, a new clinic dedicated to helping patients manage their heart failure symptoms, opens Monday, Nov. 14.

The Baptist Health Heart Failure Clinic, located at 325 W. Dixie Ave. in Elizabethtown, gives patients convenient access to exceptional heart care close to home. The new clinic offers the following services:

  • Personalized, expert medical attention.
  • Remote monitoring to better support the patient in the home environment.
  • Medical and treatment management.
  • Lifestyle education, including diet, exercise, and activity support.
  • Advance care planning.
  • Assistance in finding affordable medications.

A congestive heart failure (CHF) diagnosis is associated with a high incidence of morbidity and mortality. Studies have shown that dedicated CHF programs reduce mortality and hospitalizations.

Prabodh Mehta, MD, interventional cardiologist with Baptist Health Medical Group Cardiology, will oversee the clinic, which provides skilled, comprehensive care to patients diagnosed with heart failure.

Dr. Mehta earned his medical degree from Seth G. S. Medical College in India.  After medical school, he completed his residency in internal medicine at K.E.M. Hospital. Dr. Mehta then completed an internal medicine residency, followed by cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Wayne State University in Detroit. He is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine.

He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, College of Physicians and Surgeons of India, and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

At the new clinic, Dr. Mehta will be joined by a team of professionals which include a nurse practitioner, dietitian, nurse, patient access representatives, and a certified medical assistant. Dr. Mehta specializes in congestive heart failure, arrhythmia conditions leading to heart failure, interventional and preventive cardiology pulmonary hypertension, echocardiography, cardiac CTA and cardiac nuclear imaging.

Dr. Mehta provides comprehensive treatment and preventive care for patients with cardiovascular disorders, arrhythmia conditions and coronary and peripheral artery diseases.
