♪ The rotator cuff problems are some of the most common problems that I see in my practice, especially common people past the age of 50 or so. It can be a degenerative process, but it's also fairly common in younger patients, especially in people who are involved in athletics. Typically, it's diagnosed pretty easily by just a history or talking with the patient and also doing a physical exam. Usually that's supplemented with plain X-rays in the office.

So that's usually you can make the diagnosis with that. If somebody is having a lot of problems with a shoulder, especially if it's limiting them on a regular basis, there's some simple treatments that can really be helpful. Those can range from minor things like exercise and anti-inflammatory medications, oftentimes injections can be real helpful as well. So people who have this kind of problem typically can be helped quite a bit with some simple treatment in the office.

And so there's no reason to be concerned about being a real burdensome treatment when you come to the office. Orthopedics is a field that appeals to me because a lot of conditions we can take the patient and make them better and allow them to do these things they want to. That's one of the things that interests me about the work is that I feel like I'm a benefit to my patients, make people better, and that gives me satisfaction. ♪ [music]
