COVID-19 survivor released from Baptist Health La Grange after 21 days in ICU

LA GRANGE, Ky. -- An Oldham County man who spent 21 days in the ICU at Baptist Health La Grange with COVID-19 was discharged from the hospital Saturday night. 65-year-old Phillip Draper was admitted on November 25. During his battle with the virus, Mr. Draper was on maximum oxygen support and he was nearly put on a ventilator.   

The nurses and respiratory therapists who cared for Mr. Draper celebrated as they wheeled him out of the hospital, where he was greeted by his wife, Sue Draper, and surprised by his grandchildren, who were not able to see him in person during his treatment.   

Sue Draper said Phillip would not have made it through without the care and compassion of his nurses, who comforted him while he was isolated from his family. They even celebrated his birthday on Wednesday while he was in the hospital.
