The Clorox Total 360 joins the Tru-D Smart UVC light system, providing a safe environment at Baptist Health Madisonville

Madisonville, KY. (May 13, 2020): Baptist Health Madisonville has added a new member to its Environmental Services team to further proactively reduce the risk of infections.  The Clorox Total 360 Electrostatic Sprayer System reduces pathogens and delivers superior coverage in hard-to-reach places killing 99.9% of bacteria and viruses in five seconds, including the coronavirus.

The Clorox Total 360 joins the Tru-D® Smart UVC light system that Baptist Health Madisonville purchased in 2016, when they became the first hospital in Western Kentucky to adopt Tru-D®.  “A safe environment in healthcare is critical,” stated Robert Ramey, president of Baptist Health Madisonville.  “Our EVS team works diligently to ensure our surfaces are clean in patient rooms, procedural areas and our public spaces.  They are constantly working to keep our community safe,” added Ramey.

Using effective and chemical-free UVC light energy, Tru-D® kills germs and superbugs such as C. diff, MRSA, VRE and more. Before Tru-D® is activated, the EVS staff cleans the room with traditional cleaning methods. Once complete, the operator brings Tru-D® in the room to provide total room disinfection. Tru-D® is then turned on by an iPad outside of the room and begins administering a single cycle of UV energy.  Using patented Sensor360 technology, Tru-D® is able to compensate for room variables such as size, shape and contents to deliver the precise, lethal dose of UV energy needed. Through its method of calculated, measured UV dosage, Tru-D® is able to disinfect in both direct and shadowed areas while removing the chance of human error in the disinfection process. After the cycle is complete, Tru-D® alerts the operator via text and/or audio message that the entire room has been disinfected.

In much the same way, the Clorox Total 360 aids the EVS team by allowing them to disinfect hard to reach areas and commonly used surfaces with better overall coverage.  “While we already implement stringent infection prevention protocols, having these extra tools added to our standard cleaning procedures will give our patients, staff and visitors peace of mind that our facilities are safe for them,” stated Eddie Gomez, Director of Environmental Services.

“Investing in safety initiatives, like the Clorox Total 360 and Tru-D® systems, will help the hospital be a healthier place for the community as we continue to provide quality, compassionate care,” said Ramey.  “When we add these products to the diligent work of our EVS team members, new plexiglass protective barriers, and our masking and social distancing protocols we are working to ensure that our facility is well prepared to serve our patients safely and effectively.”
