RICHMOND, Ky. (September 3, 2019) – Sept. 8 – 14 is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Week. Baptist Health Richmond invites you to join us at the “Chalk the Walk” kick-off on Monday, Sept. 9. Chalk the Walk is an opportunity for our community to raise awareness for our friends, family and co-workers who are battling a mental health condition by sharing words of encouragement and creative designs to inspire others.
The celebration will be at 9:30 am in the Healing Garden near the south entrance of the hospital and chalk will be provided.
“Suicide awareness and prevention is about creating space for hope. We want individuals in our community to know they are never completely alone. Every human being matters and by coming together as a community, I hope we can create a culture of empowerment and hope,” said Katelyn Arvin, LPCC, NCC, lead navigator at Baptist Health Richmond Behavioral Health Clinic. “No one should have to struggle in silence. Chalk the Walk is a visual representation of a community coming together to support one another. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness!”
Too often the feelings of shame and stigma prevent those in need from seeking medical help. Learn how you can help Baptist Health Richmond connect individuals with the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention at Chalk the Walk.
