RICHMOND, Ky. (July 30, 2019) – Baptist Health Richmond and The Boutique at Merle Norman are partnering to provide an on-site Wig Boutique for patients receiving care at Baptist Health Richmond Cancer Care. The Wig Boutique will be open in Cancer Care monthly on August 19, September 16, October 21 and November 18. More dates will be scheduled.

An important part of the healing process for many people undergoing cancer treatment is taking control of their appearance. The partnership between Baptist Health Richmond and The Boutique at Merle Norman will provide patients the opportunity to receive a private one-on-one consultation with experienced professionals trained to help patients look good and feel their best.

“Many cancer patients fear losing their hair when they undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments. For some, hair loss is the most distressing side effect they face,” said Mary Lindsay Merrell, MSN, RN, Director of Cancer Care and Outpatient Infusion at Baptist Health Richmond. “Offering an on-site Wig Boutique will allow patients the ability to try on hair enhancements and ask important questions in a private setting with the help of professionals.  We are excited to connect patients with the The Boutique at Merle Norman to help give them a confidence boost all while receiving treatment in our cancer center.”

“We get the opportunity to work with patients and provide personalized wig consultations to find their perfect fit and style for the best in comfort and appearance. We educate our clients on how to choose their hair enhancements and how to properly care for them, but most importantly, we make them feel good about how they look,” said Jill Williams, owner of The Boutique at Merle Norman.  “We are in the look good, feel better business and can’t be more pleased to work with Baptist Health Richmond in making this service more convenient for patients. Sometimes, the idea of another stop, keeps patients from getting a wig that will ultimately make them feel better, so we want to make it easier for the patients.”
