Baptist Health Madisonville to host Cancer Survivors’ Day celebration

(Madisonville, Ky.)  May 16, 2019 —Baptist Health Madisonville plans to celebrate cancer survivors on National Cancer Survivors’ Day on June 2. The day serves as a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration to those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families and an outreach to the community.

The celebration will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Trover Clinic 8th floor Tower. Festivities include food, games and prizes.

“This is something we have wanted to do for several years,” said Diana Jackson, MSN, RN, OCN, who is director of the Oncology Program, Infusion and Palliative Care. “Many patients do not see themselves as survivors until they are completely finished with treatment, but per the National Cancer Institute, an individual is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis, through the balance of his or her life. Family members, friends, and caregivers also are impacted by the survivorship experience and are therefore included in this definition. We want to encourage especially patients on active treatment to take a few hours to just have fun and focus on something besides having cancer.”

Pre-Registration is required by calling Amanda Coble at 270.825.5800
