Learn about how lung cancer treatments are changing, pay tribute to those diagnosed and celebrate hope for the future at Shine a Light on Lung Cancer at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at The Signature Club of Lansdowne, 3256 Lansdowne Drive in Lexington.
Baptist Health Lexington will sponsor the free Shine a Light event in partnership with the Lung Cancer Alliance. Scheduled in The Signature Club’s Grand Ballroom, the event is open to anyone touched by lung cancer. It will be one of many vigils throughout the country in November to increase awareness of lung cancer, support lung cancer patients and caregivers, and remove the stigma of the disease.
Nationwide, lung cancer continues to take more lives each year than breast, prostate, colon and pancreatic cancers combined, but the disease receives a fraction of overall research dollars. Kentucky leads the nation in death rates each year from lung cancer.
Baptist Health Lexington diagnoses and treats more than 300 lung cancer patients each year.
