Baptist Health Madisonville to host Camp Butterfly
Madisonville, KY. (September 21, 2016): Camp Butterfly will be held at Baptist Health Madisonville’s Hospice House on Saturday, September 24. Camp Butterfly is a grief camp for children ages six through 12 that have experienced the death of a loved one.
During camp sessions the children will learn to cope with their feelings of grief in a positive way and will have fun with children that have experienced a similar loss. There are activities planned and led by social workers that will teach the children how to effectively deal with their loss.
“We provide breakfast, lunch, yard twister, scavenger hunts and more all while teaching these children that they are going to be okay,” said Kellie Gipson, Coordinator for Baptist Health Hospice. “The favorite event of the day is always our memorial service that ends with the releasing of butterflies. Parents are encouraged to attend the service which is free and open to the community,” added Gipson.
Registration and check-in begins at 9:30 am and camp will last until 2:30 pm. The memorial service is scheduled to begin at 3 pm. The Hospice House is located at 418 North Scott Street in Madisonville.
