Baptist Health Paducah announces students selected for its tenth annual Pre-Med Academy

PADUCAH, KY (June 3, 2026) — Baptist Health Paducah is excited to welcomes 37 college students to its tenth annual Pre-Med Academy for the next eight weeks. Throughout the program, the students will shadow physicians, advanced practice clinicians and other providers while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

This year’s students include: Griffin Ames, Ansley Barks, Bradyn Barnett, Melinda Dhas, Madalynn Dochniak, Eli Dunn, Lily Evans, Alexis Fleet, Claire Fleming, Noah Godwin, Audrey Haley, Preston Harper, Luke Harston, Wilson Hawes, Emily Hite, Peyton Mekenzie Hobbs, Rylee Hudson, William Imes, Amelie Johnson, Madi Lwin, Mossy Manea, Raelyn Miller, Nhan Nguyen, Molly Null, Blain Oliver, John Outland, Krish Patel, Alexis Sayger, Chase Shelton, Addie Sullivan, Matthew Surburg, Conner Thomas, Griffin Walker, Anna White, Landon Willett, Erica Wurth, and Jason Zheng.

This class represents seventeen colleges including Illinois State University, Murray State University, Kentucky Community & Technical College System, Pensacola Christian College, Southern Illinois University, University of Alabama Birmingham, University of Georgia, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, University of Mississippi, University of the Ozarks, and Washington and Lee University.

During the program, students will learn from physicians and other healthcare providers in various departments including: cardiology, emergency, family practice, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology/radiation therapy, pulmonary, podiatry, pediatrics, radiology, rehab services, and urology. Many students look forward to the unique opportunity to observe physicians in the operating room during surgery. 

The academy is structured to assist students in the development of their future medical careers by giving them valuable experience to share during medical school interviews and assisting them in building meaningful mentoring relationships with healthcare providers.

Pre-Med Academy is a paid program that requires students to work approximately 24-32 hours a week. All current and future applicants must have completed at least one semester of college. Each applicant was also required to provide a transcript of their latest semester of college showing a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher.
