Baptist Health Corbin. July 21, 2025

CORBIN, KY (July 17, 2025) - Baptist Health Corbin has been named a recipient of the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2025, placing it among the nation’s top-performing hospitals for cardiovascular care. The hospital is one of just 259 facilities nationwide to earn this prestigious recognition.

The Platinum Performance Achievement Award honors hospitals that have demonstrated sustained excellence in treating (ACS) Acute Coronary Syndrome patients in accordance with the most current, evidence-based clinical guidelines. To qualify, Baptist Health Corbin consistently met or exceeded key performance measures for two consecutive years (2024–2025) in the ACC’s Chest Pain – MI Registry, reflecting a strong commitment to quality improvement and patient-centered care.

“We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition for the fourth consecutive year. Achieving this accreditation was both a challenge and a privilege. It took countless hours of planning, education, coordination, and collaboration—which I’ve found will never stop. This couldn’t have been done without the support and commitment of so many people around me. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a team that values growth, excellence, and putting patients first," said Katelynn Spicer, MSN, RN, Chest Pain Coordinator at Baptist Health Corbin.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 800,000 Americans experience a heart attack each year. The ACC’s evidence-based treatment guidelines include timely administration of aspirin, rapid restoration of blood flow to the heart, smoking cessation counseling, and cardiac rehabilitation—all of which Baptist Health Corbin has implemented with excellence.

The Chest Pain – MI Registry helps healthcare teams enhance care for ACS patients by tracking performance and outcomes, fostering continuous improvement, and setting a national benchmark for quality and safety in the treatment of coronary artery disease.

“The Platinum designation signifies that our team is not only meeting, but exceeding, rigorous standards in the early assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients experiencing chest pain or symptoms of acute coronary syndrome,” said Heather Napier, MSN, RN, CCRN, CPHQ, HACP, T-CHEST-Executive Director of Quality and Outcomes at Baptist Health Corbin.
