HODGENVILLE, KY (July 25, 2025) – Representatives from Baptist Health Hardin, Baptist Health Medical Group, Baptist Health Auxiliary Hardin and LaRue County FFA gathered on Tuesday to dedicate a new Blessing Box located outside Baptist Health Medical Group Family Medicine in Hodgenville.
The wooden box, handcrafted by members of the LaRue County FFA, will be stocked with non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products. Open 24/7, the Blessing Box offers a discreet and accessible option for individuals and families in need.
“This project reflects our continued commitment to supporting the health and well-being of our communities,” said Sheila Smallwood, vice president of operations for Baptist Health Medical Group. “We are incredibly thankful to the LaRue County FFA for lending their skills and heart to this effort. The Blessing Box will be a lasting resource for the Hodgenville community.”
Now in its 70th year, the Baptist Health Auxiliary Hardin continues to make a lasting impact across the hospital system by leading through volunteer service, supporting efforts to enhance patient comfort, and actively engaging in community outreach. Sponsoring the Blessing Box is just one of several meaningful projects the Auxiliary has embraced as part of its yearlong anniversary celebration.
“This year marks a meaningful milestone for the Auxiliary, and we wanted to do something that gives back directly to the people we serve,” said Pat Howell, volunteer coordinator at Baptist Health Hardin. “The Blessing Box reflects the heart of our volunteers—quietly helping others, meeting needs and showing kindness. It’s a small gesture with big impact.”
Community members are encouraged to “take what you need, leave what you can,” to help sustain the Blessing Box as a reliable and compassionate resource for those experiencing hardship.
