From the moment we are born, most of us are touched by the waiting hands of a nurse dedicated to providing us a healthy start in life. And, over the course of our lifetimes, we look to nurses as our constant connection to care, whether in a doctor’s office or at a hospital bedside.

Baptist Health joins the American Nurses Association (ANA) and healthcare providers across the country in celebration of National Nurses Week. The week begins each year on May 6 and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is revered as the founder of modern nursing.

The ANA has designated 2017 as the “Year of the Healthy Nurse,” and honors nurses for leading the charge for health and wellness with the theme “Nursing: the Balance of Mind, Body and Spirit.” Throughout the year, the ANA will host special programs aimed at encouraging nurses to care for their own health as carefully as they care for others.

To each of our caring nurses, we applaud your hard work, expertise and compassion, and we appreciate your commitment to safety, quality and innovation. Thank you for the role you play in improving the health of our communities.
