Baptist Health Paducah announces Siener Family Wall of Hope

Parents with babies in the new John and Loree Eckstein NICU at Baptist Health Paducah will receive encouragement from a family who has walked in their shoes.

Parents with babies in the new John and Loree Eckstein NICU at Baptist Health Paducah will receive encouragement from a family who has walked in their shoes.

The Siener Family Wall of Hope, located outside the entrance to the neonatal intensive care unit in Medical Park 2, showcases photos of a dozen NICU graduates, both as babies in the hospital and currently as healthy and happy children.

The wall will be unveiled during tours at the grand opening and dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the Larry Barton Atrium.

Jason and Leigh Ann Siener’s twin sons, Kip and Kase, were hospitalized in a Missouri NICU for three months after being born prematurely in 2006. The Baptist NICU opened in 2011.

The couple said they wanted to dedicate the Wall of Hope to encourage and inspire current NICU families.

“We want to give them hope,” Leigh Ann said. “When our boys were in the NICU, the fear, sadness and inability to help was overwhelming. Now they are healthy and happy children. We pray these photos will give hope to all families, as they go through this journey.”

The NICU will almost triple in size when it moves into a new 8,000-square-foot wing on the second floor of Medical Park 2 this month. More than 1,000 families have been served in six years.

“We are blessed by the generous donation from the Siener family,” said William A. Brown, hospital president. “They know the journey these families face when their loved one is in the NICU, and we are grateful for their support to give our families this gift of hope.”

Baptist Health Foundation Paducah announced a $10 million capital campaign in January to support cancer, cardiac and maternity care, as well as outreach programs to improve the health of the community. “Celebrating Miracles, Transforming Lives,” the first-ever comprehensive capital campaign in the 64-year history of Baptist Health Paducah, has already raised $7.5 million.
