Baptist Health Paducah reaccredited as Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology

Baptist Health Paducah and obstetrician/gynecologist Blair Tolar, MD, were recently reaccredited with the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) designation.

Baptist Health Paducah and obstetrician/gynecologist Blair Tolar, MD, were recently reaccredited with the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) designation.

Baptist is one of 89 hospitals worldwide to receive the prestigious designation by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists™ and the Surgical Review Corp. Dr. Tolar is among 317 COEMIG certified surgeons worldwide.

The COEMIG seal assures women that Baptist Health Paducah and Dr. Tolar have partnered to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in minimally invasive gynecologic surgical care, including:

  • Expansion of patient awareness and access to minimally invasive gynecologic procedures

Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery uses small incisions for rapid recovery, decreased blood loss, shorter stays in the hospital and less post-operative pain. Techniques are available to treat chronic pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, infertility, uterine prolapse and urinary stress incontinence. Some minimally invasive surgeries require no incisions, such as hysteroscopy, vaginal hysterectomy, some prolapse repair and endometrial ablation.

To earn the COEMIG designation, Baptist Health Paducah provided information on all aspects of its minimally invasive gynecological program and processes, including data on surgical outcomes, as well as hosted the independent team’s on-site review.
