When Visiting a Baptist Health Facility:
To protect the health of our patients and community, anyone entering a Baptist Health facility will now be asked to complete an electronic COVID-19 screening form. This form can be found here and will provide you with next steps depending upon your screening status. This screening tool should not be used by Baptist Health employees reporting to work. This tool also does not store data. Thank you for partnering with us to support the health and wellbeing of our patients, visitors, staff, and community.
Baptist Health Corbin Visitation Guidelines
Visitor restrictions are still in place to protect patients and staff at Baptist Health Corbin. In accordance with directions from the Governor, the following general guidelines will be effective May 18, 2020.
- Emergency Department: One person can accompany the patient but should wait in the car until the provider requests assistance for patient assessment or agrees they may wait in the room with the patient, after appropriate screening and while wearing a mask at all times.
- Critically Ill/Non Covid-19 Inpatients: An additional family member may visit a critically ill Non-COVID inpatient for limited times as indicated by hospital administration and the Clinical House Supervisor as deemed appropriate. These visits should be time limited to minimize the exposure of visitors to staff and others. PPE should be in place at all times.
- Any Patient in Isolation: No Visitors unless the patient’s condition is deteriorating with approval and appropriate PPE for limited times.
- Inpatient COVID-19: No visitors unless condition deteriorates and the provider agrees 1-2 family members should visit. The use of Personal Protective Equipment and infection control practices should be supervised by staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Inpatients (those admitted or currently in a hospital room): Only one family member or legal guardian, over the age of 16, will be allowed to visit. Visitation hours are 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, 7-days a week. Brief visits of less than two hours are encouraged. Please do not bring in outside items. If the visits are brief, other family members may be screened and allowed to visit.
- Maternity and NICU: NICU is limited to one or both parents. Parents should be oriented by staff before visiting. On the Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units visitation is not permitted for anyone under 16 years old, including siblings. All visitors over 16 are health screened before entrance is permitted. Visitors are limited to one per patient and they are encouraged to remain for the entire stay and wear a mask in the room with mom and baby.
- Cancer Center: At this time, visitors are not allowed in outpatient oncology including infusion, radiation therapy and clinics.
- Surgery: One visitor will be allowed to accompany the patient after being screened. Visitor should restrict their location to the waiting room, wear a mask at all times and practice social distancing. If the patient has been assigned a room the visitor should wait there. Masks should be worn by visitors at all times including in patient rooms.
- Hospice, Palliative & End-of-Life Patients: 1 to 2 family members with approval, appropriate PPE must be worn and family members should stay in patient room when possible.
- Clergy & Visits from Non-Family Members: This is not permitted at this time. Hospital Pastoral Care staff can be asked to provide spiritual support and help connect patients electronically with their clergy.
- Behavioral Health Units: Visitation will be determined on a case-by case basis due to the open structure of the unit and the ability to physically distance in that setting. Visits will arranged for patients by physician orders and pre-planned with staff.
We understand these temporary restrictions may be difficult for patients and their loved ones, but Baptist Health Corbin is taking these necessary steps to protect patients and staff.
We encourage the use of Skype, video chats and phone calls via the patient’s personal devices.
Screening procedures are in place when patients and visitors arrive at the hospital. Please use the following entrances.
- Main Hospital - all visitors except Emergency patients
- Emergency Entrance - For Emergencies only.
When visiting, remember to wash your hands with soap and water when entering and leaving patient rooms.
Those with fever (above 100 degrees), cough, runny nose, or body aches should not visit.
Effective 3/24/2023, but subject to change as recommendations evolve.
Visitor restrictions will continue for Baptist Health Medical Group offices and outpatient facilities.
Baptist Health Medical Group, which includes medical offices and Baptist Health Urgent Care locations, will allow one visitor per patient. Both visitors and patients are asked to socially distance and expect to be evaluated for COVID-19.
Masking is now optional at Baptist Health Medical Group Physician offices.
