As a less invasive way to sedate children for procedures, North Central Baptist Hospital is using laughing gas to keep pediatric patients calm.

The national goal set for hospitals by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association is administration of rt-PA medication in 60 minutes or less from the time the patient arrives at the hospital. The national average for hospitals achieving this goal is only 27.4%. As of March of this year, Baptist Health System hospitals are able to get the medication administered in 60 minutes or less 75% of the time.
